The magic of a foam pump lies in its internal mechanism, which is more complex than a standard trigger sprayer.
Actuator / Nozzle: The part you press down on. It contains a fine mesh screen.
Pump Chamber: Draws the liquid up from the bottle.
Liquid Piston: Draws a precise amount of liquid from the bottle.
Air Intake Valve / Air Piston: Draws air into the system.
Mixing Chamber: Where the liquid and air are combined.
Foaming Mesh / Screen: A fine sieve made of metal or plastic. This is the key component that creates the foam by breaking the air-liquid mixture into tiny, uniform bubbles.
Dip Tube: Reaches to the bottom of the bottle.

The Foam-Making Process in 4 Steps:
Downstroke (Press): When you press the actuator down, two things happen simultaneously:
The liquid piston draws a precise, small amount of liquid up from the bottle.
The air piston draws a large volume of air into the mixing chamber.
Mixing: The liquid and air are forced together into the mixing chamber, creating a turbulent, pre-foamed mixture.
Foaming: This air-liquid mixture is then forced under pressure through the fine mesh screen. The screen shears the mixture, creating a consistent, stable foam.
Upstroke (Release): When you release the actuator, springs return the pistons to their starting position, readying the pump for the next dose.
